RYE BEACH, N.H. – Frank Dully of Kernwood Country Club in Salem, Mass., fired a 4-under-par 66 Tuesday to take the first-round lead at the NEPGA Championship at Abenaqui Country Club.

Maine Open winner Kirk Hanefeld, Donald Folsom and Scott Johnson all were two strokes back at 68, while three others carded 69s.

Michael Worroll of the Purpoodock Club in Cape Elizabeth headed the contingent of Maine entries with a 73, while Tim Angis of Biddeford-Saco Country Club and Donald Roberts of Waterville Country Club posted 74s. Bob Darling of Fox Ridge Golf Course shot a 75, while Kebo Valley Golf Club assistant pro Mike Baker was at 76.
