PORTLAND – Michael Cervenak’s three-run homer and Adam Shabala’s two-run blast lifted the Norwich Navigators past the Portland Sea Dogs 6-2 Wednesday in the Eastern League.

Norwich (58-72) led 3-0 through four innings. After scoring a run on two singles and an error in the first, the Navigators added two in the second when Shabala lofted a pitch over the center field wall.

Portland (67-63) narrowed the deficit to 3-2 when Justin Headley singled home two runners in the fifth inning.

But the Navigators regained the momentum when Cervenak homered with two men aboard in the seventh.

Norwich starter Ryan Cox allowed both Portland runs as he scattered seven hits over 6 1/3 innings. The win raised his record to 1-3.

Sea Dogs’ starter Tim Kester (9-9) took the loss.
