BIDDEFORD – A Michigan-based broadcasting company that owns six Portland radio stations is adding WIDE, Biddeford, to its holdings.

Saga Communications is buying the AM station from Saco Bay Communications Group, which acquired it in 1996. WIDE, which has broadcast local news and issues programs since 1948, also airs high school sports, Boston Red Sox baseball and New England Patriots football.

Cary Pahigian, president and general manager of Saga’s Portland Radio Group, said his company will assume management of the station during a transition period.
