SCARBOROUGH – Two harness drivers had to be hospitalized after an accident in a race Saturday at Scarborough Downs, police said.

The driver’s names were not immediately released, and the severity of their injuries could not be determined.

Scarborough Police Sgt. Eugene O’Neill said authorities responded to the accident shortly before 8 p.m.

Two drivers were transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to police. A third injured driver was treated at the scene.

Authorities did not provide any details on what happened but said they are investigating.
