I attended the MSAD 48 budget meeting on Aug. 14 at Nokomis Regional High School. I went expecting to see a full house. What I saw was a total of 40 people in attendance.
Do the parents of children in MSAD 48 care so little about their children’s education? They need to go to these meetings and become involved. They must work to save their children’s education. We no longer have woolen mills and shoe shops for employment.
When someone expressed their concern that MSAD 38 may pull their children from Nokomis, along with approximately $500,000 in tuition money, a man in the audience said, “Let them go.” That most likely will happen, and that is not what I want to see.
I am a citizen of MSAD 38. Although I do not have a vote in the MSAD 48 budget process, I do have a choice. We can pull our children from their school, along with approximately $5,000 each in tuition. This is not a threat; this is reality. Nokomis is a great high school, please keep it that way not for my children, but for your own.
