PORTLAND – On Sebago Lake on Saturday, a Massachusetts man who could not swim drowned after jumping from a 50-foot cliff, the Lewiston Sun Journal reported.
Witnesses saw Noel Guerra, 23, of Framingham, Mass., jump from a popular diving spot in Raymond called Frye’s Leap, then panic when he hit the water, said Cumberland County Detective Bill Rhoades.
Several people tried to rescue Guerra, who was visiting friends in Bridgton, but they could not reach him before he went under the rough water.
Police recovered his body from the lake’s deep water a couple of hours later.
