STONINGTON – Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an accident that injured three teenagers late Saturday.

The three teenagers, none of whom has been identified, were traveling north on Route 15A about a mile past the Burnt Cove Market when the accident occurred, according to Deputy Jeff McFarland.

The driver lost control of the vehicle on a curve, probably due to excessive speed, McFarland said. The vehicle went off the road, struck a rock and continued into the woods.

All three people in the vehicle, two females and a male, were injured. The male was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center. The two females were taken to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. No information on their conditions was available Sunday, according to the deputy.

McFarland said he was still trying to determine which of the three teens was driving at the time of the accident.
