ELLSWORTH – Teachers of grades kindergarten through eight in the Ellsworth School Department are invited to attend four one-hour, after-school teacher workshops beginning Monday, Sept. 29, presented by the Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Made possible through grants awarded by the Maine Community Foundation and Unity Foundation, the fall workshops will cover the topics of soil, forestry, water and agriculture. Upon completion of each workshop, teachers will receive teaching kits with hands-on activities for each subject, based on the Maine Learning Results, for immediate use in the classroom.

The water conservation district is planning to make similar workshops and teaching materials available to all Hancock County school departments in the near future.

For more information or to register, contact Liz Petterson at the conservation district at 664-7496 or e-mail at hcswcd@me.nacdnet.org.
