FORT KENT – The University of Maine at Fort Kent will celebrate its 125th anniversary with a gala banquet Saturday, Sept. 20, at the university sports center.
The event, preceded by a social at 5 p.m. and followed by dancing, is part of a weekend that includes the inauguration of UMFK’s ninth president and Fort Kent’s 10th annual Scarecrow Festival.
President Richard W. Cost will preside over the evening festivities, which will include a tribute to students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends in the community who have had an impact on UMFK.
The banquet will feature a tribute to four individuals.
. The Rev. David Raymond, a recently ordained priest and member of UMFK’s Class of 1975, will be presented with the 2003 Outstanding Alumni award.
. Ryan Pelletier, St. Agatha town manager and a 2001 graduate of UMFK, will be presented with the Outstanding Young Alumni award.
. UMFK senior education student Meranda Hafford Castonguay has been selected by the University Alumni Association as this year’s Outstanding Future Alumni.
. John L. Martin, a St. John Valley legislator and UMFK supporter, will be presented with a special Honorary Alumni award.
