Let’s pass on $20 plan

My husband and I were given a delightful opportunity to assist the growth and nourishment of four lovely little human beings. A significant portion of their childhood included enchanting visits to Maine’s beautiful Acadia National Park. With the help of the Beehive and Precipice trails, these little people learned by perseverance, personal effort and trust that they could accomplish breathtaking endeavors. The children found immeasurable joy in playing tag with the ocean at Sand Beach.

The reason my husband and I could offer such enriching lessons to our children is simply because a tank of gasoline and a homemade picnic lunch were the most essential demands. As a hard-working shoe factory worker and a waitress, monetary funds were often a scarcity.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to John Rockefeller from deep in my heart for sharing the jewel of Acadia. A concern that troubles me is the idea that a $20 pass is affordable. There are folks who know differently. This would end a few trips to Acadia for families whose money is scarce. Thankfully, the state of Maine has many other equally exquisite offerings for those willing to seek these treasures. Hopefully, someone won’t put high price tags on all of those.
