DYER BROOK – Shelby Pickering scored six goals, three in each half, to power the Lee Academy Pandas to a 7-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Southern Aroostook Warriors Tuesday.
Ashlee Gifford picked up the other goal and also assisted on one of Pickering’s. Goalkeepers Amy Lane and Pickering combined to make 14 saves on 16 shots for 1-0 Lee.
Kaylea Collier scored the lone goal for 0-2-1 Southern Aroostook. Audrey Charrette and Erin Caswell made 17 saves on 23 shots.
Ashland 3, Wisdom 1
At Ashland, Beth Chamberlain and Caitlin Sherman each had a goal and an assist to spark the Hornets.
Jessica Jacques scored off a Danielle Long assist for 1-0-1 Ashland. Ashley Nemer made seven saves on 10 shots.
Christa Lizotte scored a goal and Kristen Marquis had an assist for 3-2 Wisdom. Kayla Daigle stopped 22 of 25 shots.
Boys soccer
Lee 3, Southern Aroostook 1
At Lee, Rick Kin’s goal seven minutes into the second half broke a 1-1 tie and led Lee to victory in its season opener.
Kin was assisted by Jake Kang, and Doob Dow added an insurance goal with two minutes left on a Cory Bowker assist.
Lee freshman Tom Bird and Southern Aroostook’s Travis Brooker scored unassisted goals in the first half.
Lee goalie Kris King made seven saves on eight shots. Jeff Boutilier made 12 saves on 24 shots for 0-2 Southern Aroostook.
Ashland 2, Wisdom 0
At Ashland, goals by Chris Good and Alan O’Clair lifted the host Hornets to their first victory of the season.
Good scored unassisted in the first half, while O’Clair’s goal came off a Brock Bessey corner kick midway through the second half.
Curtis Belanger made six saves on six shots for 1-0-1 Ashland. Kenny Corriveau made 30 saves on 44 shots for 0-5 Wisdom of St. Agatha.
