The Abbe Museum of Bar Harbor will benefit from two screenings of the documentary film “Wilderness and Spirit: A Mountain Called Katahdin,” at 2 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Reel Pizza Cinerama on Kennebec Street in Bar Harbor.
Sharon Broom of the Abbe Museum reports that those who view the landmark documentary on Mount Katahdin will also have the opportunity to meet the award-winning Portland filmmaker Huey, who will introduce both showings.
Between the screenings, from 4 to 5 p.m., a reception and video signing will be held at the newest Abbe facility, which is located across Mount Desert Street from the theater.
The presentation is being made possible with support from Cadillac Mountain Sports and Reel Pizza.
Tickets for the screening and reception are $6 for adults and $3 for children under the age of 16. All proceeds benefit the Abbe Museum, which exhibits items from the American Indian cultures of Maine.
Earlier this month, the Abbe celebrated its 75th anniversary, and has recently expanded by adding its second location while continuing to maintain its original site at Sieur de Monts Spring in Acadia National Park.
For information about the screening and reception, call 288-3519, e-mail abbe@midmaine.com or visit the Abbe Web site at www.abbemuseum.org.
