ORLAND – Work has begun on repairs to Narramissic Bridge on U.S. Route 1, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.
Work will be done out of the way of traffic on the substructure of the bridge. The project calls for encasing the bridge supports in concrete.
Traffic may be disrupted during concrete deliveries, when alternating one-way traffic will be maintained across the bridge. Lane closures will be limited to four-hour increments between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Deliveries tentatively are scheduled for late next week, but actual dates depend on completion of preliminary work.
The project is expected to be completed by early October.
