Snowe names new press staff

WASHINGTON – Edward “Ted” McEnroe, former executive producer for WCSH-TV in Portland, has been named U.S. Sen. Olympia J. Snowe’s press secretary, effective Sept. 2. Snowe also recently hired Jason Galanes as her deputy press secretary.

McEnroe joins Snowe’s staff after 14 years working in radio and television as a program director, producer and executive producer in Rhode Island, Florida, Connecticut and Maine. He is a graduate of Brown University and has received a master’s degree in teaching from Brown University and a master’s in journalism from Northwestern University.

“Ted’s knowledge of Maine and the issues affecting

our state – combined with

his extensive experience in both radio and television – will be of invaluable assistance in helping me to communicate with the people of Maine on matters of importance in Washington and at home,” Snowe said in a statement announcing the appointment.

Galanes, of Rollinsford, N.H., is a graduate of the University of Southern California and is pursuing his master’s degree in political management at George Washington University. Galanes joined Snowe’s staff in July, after working for Witeck-Combs Communications in Washington, D.C.

McEnroe and Galanes will join Elizabeth Wenk, director of communications, in Snowe’s press office. Wenk is a graduate of the University of Delaware and earned a master’s degree in political management from George Washington University. Wenk joined Snowe’s staff in March 2003 after serving for five years as press secretary, communications director and campaign manager for Rep. Mike Castle, R-Del.
