Collier, Watson power Warriors to win vs. Bears

EASTON – Kaylea Collier and Mindy Watson each scored two goals as Southern Aroostook pulled away after a scoreless halftime tie to post a 5-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over Easton on Friday afternoon.

Collier scored 37 seconds into the second half to give the Warriors the lead for good. Lyndsay Lyons also scored for 1-2-1 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook, while Chelsea Collier had two assists and Watson had one.

Audrey Charette made 16 saves on 23 shots.

Jessica Ferris scored Easton’s goal on a direct kick. Kassie Lovely had 27 saves on 32 shots for the 0-5 Bears.

On Tuesday, Wisdom defeated Easton 6-0.

Fort Fairfield 3, Wisdom 0

At Fort Fairfield, Brittany McLaughlin scored two goals to help Fort Fairfield to the win.

Brittney Guiou scored a goal for the 4-1 Tigers as Kerri Cunningham, Kelly McNamee and Ruthie Arato each had an assist. Dani Searles made four saves on five shots.

Kayla Daigle stopped eight of 14 shots for 2-3 Wisdom of St. Agatha.

Houlton 1, Madawaska 0

At Madawaska, Darielle Sewell scored the game-winning goal off of a Keegan Hovey assist with 17 minutes left in the game to give Houlton the win.

Anna Lenentine registered 14 saves on 17 shots for the 2-2 Shiretowners.

Liz LaPlante made nine saves on 11 shots for 1-4 Madawaska.

Cent. Aroostook 2, Washburn 0

At Mars Hill, Ericah Cheney scored both of Central Aroostook’s goals to give the hosts the win over Washburn.

Alisha Boyd and Brittany Collins each provided assists for 3-2-1 Central Aroostook. Brittany Lundeen made 14 saves on 25 shots.

Amber Palmer stopped seven of 15 shots for 1-4 Washburn.

Van Buren 0, Limestone 0

At Limestone, Lisa Levasseur stopped all five shots that she saw for 2-0-3 Van Buren and Nikki Michaud made 12 saves on 13 shots for 2-2-1 Limestone as the squads battled to a scoreless deadlock through two overtimes.

Boys soccer

Washburn 1, Cent. Aroostook 0

At Mars Hill, Kevin Willette scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick with 22 minutes remaining in the second half to give Washburn their fifth straight win.

Adam Crew blocked 10 of 19 shots for 5-0 Washburn.

Jason Thompson made 15 saves on 28 attempts for 2-2-1 Central Aroostook.

Van Buren 5, Limestone 0

At Limestone, Tyler Lapierre scored two goals and had an assist to lead Van Buren to the win.

Michael Corbin had a goal and an assist for the Crusaders. Jacob Doucette and Jeremy Chasse each scored a goal while Trevor Hews and Corey Vick added assists. Dustin Cyr made one save on two shots for 3-2 Van Buren.

Nate Bean and Travis Peers combined to make 10 saves on 25 shots for 0-4 Limestone.

Easton 1, So. Aroostook 0

At Easton, Brandon Carlow scored off a Steven Hopkins assist with 17:01 left in the game to give the Bears the victory over the Southern Aroostook Warriors of Dyer Brook.

Hopkins trapped a cross and sent a through ball to Carlow who booted it in from about 10 yards out. Danny Warren made 17 saves on 19 shots for the 3-1-1 winners.

For 0-3 SAHS, Jeff Boutilier made 12 saves on 18 shots.
