The Orono Red Riots, Mattanawcook Academy Lynx and Brewer Witches each prepared for the regular season with strong exhibition victories Friday night in high school football action.
Orono beat Mount Desert Island 42-0, MA blanked John Bapst 39-0 and Brewer shut out Bucksport 19-0.
Orono 42, MDI 0
At Orono, Lance Cowan completed 5 of 7 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns to lead Orono to the victory.
Joe Fullwood caught two passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns and also had six carries for of 23 yards for Orono. Nick LeGrand and Ryan Levesque each had eight tackles.

At Lincoln, Duncan Markie carried 10 times for 93 yards, including scoring runs of 15 and 54 yards, to help the Lynx shut out the Crusaders of Bangor.
Dustin Hanscom threw a 7-yard TD pass to Nick Ireland and hit brother Dylan Hanscom on a 5-yard scoring toss. He also scored on a 1-yard run.
Jason Murchison peeled off a 17-yard scoring scamper and made nine tackles for Mattanawcook Academy.

At Doyle Field, the Witches unveiled their new option offense and scored an exhibition victory over the Golden Bucks.
Quarterbacks Court Rancourt, Danny Fox and Ricky Porter each ran for a touchdown to pace Brewer. Porter, a sophomore, broke loose for a 70-yard TD keeper.

Girls soccer
So. Aroostook 5, Easton 1
At Easton, Kaylea Collier and Mindy Watson each scored two goals as Southern Aroostook pulled away after a scoreless halftime tie.
Collier scored 37 seconds into the second half to give the Warriors the lead for good. Lyndsay Lyons also scored for 1-2-1 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook, while Chelsea Collier had two assists and Watson had one.
Audrey Charette made 16 saves on 23 shots.
Jessica Ferris scored Easton’s goal on a direct kick. Kassie Lovely had 27 saves on 32 shots for the 0-5 Bears.
On Tuesday, Wisdom defeated Easton 6-0.
Fort Fairfield 3, Wisdom 0
At Fort Fairfield, Brittany McLaughlin scored two goals to help Fort Fairfield to the win.
Brittney Guiou scored a goal for the 4-1 Tigers as Kerri Cunningham, Kelly McNamee and Ruthie Arato each had an assist. Dani Searles made four saves on five shots.
