WASHBURN – Lindsay Michaud’s unassisted goal about 12 minutes into the second half broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Central Aroostook Panthers of Mars Hill to a 2-1 schoolgirl soccer win over Washburn Wednesday.
Alisha Boyd scored off an assist from Stevie Fletcher to give Central Aroostook a lead in the first half. Brittany Lundeen stopped five of 10 shots.
Ashley Espling tied the game for the Beavers when she netted a first-half goal. Dominique Kirk assisted on the goal and Amber Palmer made seven saves on 11 shots.
Katahdin 1, Ft. Fairfield 1 (2OT)
At Sherman Station, the Cougars and Tigers battled to a double-overtime deadlock.
Sheena Escancy scored an unassisted goal for 4-1-1 Fort Fairfield. Dani Searles stopped five out of 14 shots.
Krystal McMoarn scored off a KC Duffy-Stanley pass for 1-0-1 Katahdin. Clarissa Gallagher made 12 saves against 18 shots.
Boys soccer
Washburn 1, CAHS 1 (2OT)
At Washburn, Zach Bird headed the ball into the net off a corner kick by Steve Drost with 34:48 left in the game to knot the score and allow Washburn to salvage a tie game.
Jason Thompson stopped 11 of 13 shots in goal and the -Beavers remained unbeaten at 5-0-2.
Bryan Grew scored a first half goal off an assist from Eric Grivoire for the 2-2-2 Central Aroostook Panthers of Mars Hill. Adam Crew made 11 saves on 17 shots.
Madawaska 5, Wisdom 0
At St. Agatha, Myles Morneault scored a pair of goals and Michael Arnold had a goal and an assist as the Madawaska Owls improved to 5-1.
Paul Roy and Peter Girard (penalty kick) had the other goals and Paul Michaud had an assist.
Jon Cowie made 10 saves on 13 shots while Kenny Corriveau had 19 saves on 30 shots for the 0-6 Wisdom Pioneers.
