ROCKLAND – A new weekly newspaper will be introduced to just about every household in Knox County beginning next week.

Village Soup Times, the paper being launched by the 6-year-old Village Soup community news and information Web site, will be mailed to 15,421 households, Publisher Derek Anderson said Wednesday. The first issue will be mailed Wednesday. The plan is to reach every household in the county, he said.

The newspaper will continue to be mailed for free to residents until the end of the month, Anderson said.

At the same time, some copies of the paper will be available in stores in the area.

In October, the weekly will sell for 50 cents at stores and will be sent to homes for an annual subscription rate of $19.95, Anderson said.

The company is undaunted by the cost of mailing the paper to every household during the first month, he said, in part because many advertisers have embraced the idea of reaching so many readers during the first month of publication.
