Police arrest Ohio man after call from Mall

Bangor police arrested an Ohio man Thursday afternoon on a warrant for not appearing to answer charges of fishing without a license.

Officer Russell Twaddell responded to the call from the Bangor Mall at about 4 p.m. Mall security reported that a man was wandering aimlessly around the mall and making them nervous.

Twaddell said he met with William Houston, 42, of Masillon, Ohio, whom he arrested on the warrant and took to Penobscot County Jail.

Bangor police arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Wednesday night.

Officer Josh Ouellette reported that he went to a Center Street apartment at 10 p.m. and found three men and one woman arguing in an upstairs hallway. After dismissing one man who said he was just there to keep the peace, Ouellette spoke with the other three.

One man told Ouellette that the other man, Dan Johnson, had started the dispute. Johnson said he was “just loving on her,” indicating the woman present, according to Ouellette.

The woman told Ouellette that Johnson had thrown her around the apartment and punched her in the chest. She said Johnson was mad because she had visited a female friend in another apartment.

Ouellette said the woman showed him a red mark in the middle of her chest, where Johnson had allegedly hit her. She said she had lived with Johnson for the last 13 years.

Officer Christopher Morley arrested Johnson on an assault charge.

Ouellette said the woman refused to fill out any paperwork on the assault because she was tired of it. She told Ouellette that Johnson had been convicted of assaulting her in Washington County as well, and she was afraid he would kill her if she left him.
