Black Bears knock off Quinnipiac, Army

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Alaina Kleparek paced UMaine with team-highs in kills (10), digs (9) and service aces (6) as the Black Bears defeated Quinnipiac 30-20, 30-21, 30-12 in the first match of the day at the Sacred Heart Invitational Saturday.

The Bears topped Army 31-29, 22-30, 30-24, 24-30, 18-16 in the second match.

In the first match, Brittany Howe helped Maine with a .636 attack percentage with seven kills in 11 total attacks. Carmen Gabriel and Shelly Seipp each tallied 12 assists. Jackie Gallo led the Bobcats with 10 kills and eight digs.

In the second match, Kleparek had 16 kills 20 digs and two solo blocks to lead Maine. Leah Guidinger had 24 kills on 52 attacks. Steipp had 35 assists and 17 digs. Sara Fields and Jen Wynn each had 17 kills for Army.
