PRESQUE ISLE – Mary Anne Alhadeff, president and CEO of Maine Public Broadcasting Corp., will speak during a Business Associates Luncheon at noon Monday, Sept. 15, in the Campus Center of the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

She will discuss the value of a liberal arts education and how it prepares people for the workplace, especially in an ever-changing, highly technological and information-based world.

Alhadeff is a native of St. Paul, Minn., where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education and French studies at the College of Saint Catherine. After three years as a French teacher, she has spent 23 years in public broadcasting in Minnesota, Washington State, New Hampshire and North Dakota. She joined Maine Public Broadcasting Corp. last August.

Alhadeff has an extensive background producing original programs for PBS, the BBC, HBO, Showtime and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

Her productions have been honored with Emmy Awards, as well as awards from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and American Women in Radio and Television, among others.

The cost of the luncheon is $10, payable at the door. Anyone interested should reserve seats by Sept. 10 by calling Sharlene Smith at 768-9755.

Correction: A shorter version ran in coastal edition.
