ORONO – The downtown village section of Orono will be transformed into a family’s paradise with something for all ages on Saturday, September 13. The Village Festival starts at 7 a.m. with a Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by the Daughters of Isabella, in the Orono Fire Station. The cost is $3.50 per person or $10 per family.
Downtown comes alive at 10 a.m. with craft booths, food vendors, informational tables and much more.
A children’s area will be available with games, bounce house, airplane maze, a “vehicle petting zoo” and face painting with Wingnut the Country Clown. Zach Field, juggler and children’s entertainer, will give a special performance from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Other entertainment at the Mill Street stage includes, at 11 a.m., Raven, an energetic Bangor band.
At noon, festival-goers may enjoy food from Margarita’s restaurant on the sidewalk or grab a hot dog from the Orono High School Boosters while they listen to the sounds of The Maine-ly Music Chorus, a Bangor Chapter of the Society for Barbershop Quartets.
After the barbershoppers’ performance Mary Drew’s Ballet School will perform. From 1 to 2 p.m. the sounds of blues will be in the air as Souder & Williams perform on the Mill Street stage. Closing out the day of festivities will be the old time rock ‘n’ roll sounds of Jim & Sam.
