Thompson’s overtime goal lifts Beavers past Tigers

FORT FAIRIFIELD – Adam Thompson scored an unassisted goal 2:33 into overtime Friday to lift the Washburn Beavers to a 3-2 boys soccer victory over Fort Fairfield.

Isaac Carney also had an unassisted goal for Washburn, while Steve Pesut scored off a Zach Bird pass. Jason Thompson had 12 saves on 18 shots.

Robert McNamee and Carl Enman had a goal apiece for Fort Fairfield while Brandon Levasseur and Billy Scull had assists. Tyler Bernaiche made seven saves on 20 shots.

Schenck 5, Katahdin 2

At Sherman Station, Jason Kimball scored two goals to lead Schenck of East Millinocket to victory.

Tyler Thompson notched a goal and an assist for the Wolverines, while Brian Graham and Aaron Waite scored a goal each. Will Hamlin provided two assists, with Shawn Landry and Pat Dame each getting one.

Chad Nelson and Kyle Pelkey combined to make 15 saves on 17 shots.

Patrick Willett scored two goals for Katahdin with assists coming from Keith Anderson and Trey Rush. Burton Brayall made 14 saves on 19 shots.

Camden Hills 3, MCI 0

At Pittsfield, Casey Stearns provided one goal and one assist to spark the Windjammers to victory.

Tom Dennen and Lewis Wheelwright tallied a goal each while Evan Dyer and Barry Beveridge contributed assists. Andrew Rogers was not forced to make a save and did not face any shots.

Tristan Goewey made seven saves on 11 shots for the Huskies.

Machias 5, Narraguagus 2

At Harrington, Zac McNally scored two goals and assisted on another to propel the Bulldogs to victory.

Chris Correll scored twice and Jamie McCarthy added a goal for 2-0 Machias. Austin Roberts provided an assist while Isaiha Roberts made five saves on seven shots.

Gabe Checker and Cory Worcester scored unassisted goals for 0-4 Narraguagus. Josh Look made five saves on 10 shots.

Washington Acad. 5, J-B Royals 0

At East Machias, Whitney Stevens knocked in three goals to lead the Raiders to the win.

Jared Gray and Trevor Jessiman added a goal each for 1-1 Washington Academy while Juan Antonio, Lorenzo Busch, Ryan Harmon and David Rushforth tallied assists. Jeremy Gray had 13 saves on 14 shots.

Abraham Beal made 10 saves on 17 shots for the 1-1 Royals.

George Stevens 7, Bucksport 0

At Blue Hill, Andrew Lymburner knocked in three goals as the Eagles rolled.

Phineas Peake notched two goals for 1-1-1 George Stevens. Damien Smith and Ben Bos added a goal each. Collin Henry and Mark Ensworth combined to make eight stops on 10 shots.

Miles Bischer made 10 saves on 25 shots for the 0-2 Golden Bucks.

Camden Hills 3, MCI 0

At Pittsfield, Casey Stearns scored a goal and made an assist to lift Camden Hills past Maine Central Institute.

Belfast 4, Oak Hill 1

At Belfast, Aaron Cross and Chris Williams each had a goal plus an assist in leading the Lions past the Raiders.

Caleb Barnaby and Ned O’Connor notched a goal each for 2-1 Belfast while John Boynton added an assist. Colin Cunning stopped four out of seven shots.

Kyle Lunn scored an unassisted goal for 0-3 Oak Hill of Wales. John Daggett had 11 saves against 21 shots.

JV: Oak Hill 2-0

Greenville 2, Calvary Chapel 1

At Greenville, Jonah Lizotte had a goal plus an assist as the Lakers stopped the Sabers.

Nathan Woodbury added a goal for 1-2 Greenville and Brandon Lavigne had 11 saves against 18 shots.

Brock Bradford scored off an Andrew Lowe pass for 1-2 Calvary Chapel of Orrington. Tyler Gains made 10 saves on 17 shots.

Dexter 4, Central 3 (OT)

At Dexter, Brandon Woodman scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to pace the Tigers.

Woodman also had an assist, as did Ben Lemieux for Dexter. Jeremy Kenney notched two goals and an assist. Sam Bowers had seven saves on 15 shots.

Jimy Conolly notched two goals for the Red Devils of Corinth. Joey Kane added a goal and an assist and Charles Haney made 16 stops on 40 shots.

Piscataquis 1, Penquis 0 (OT)

At Guilford, Ray Burden scored off a Joe Jardine pass to lift the Pirates to the overtime win.

Josh Luellen stopped all 14 shots he faced for the winners.

Kevin Nason rejected 10 of 26 shots for the Patriots of Milo.

Penobscot Valley 2, Lee Acad. 1

At Lee, Garrett Lavertue scored first for Penobscot Valley of Howland at 27:27 into the first half on an assist from Jered Michaud to help the Howlers to the win.

Michaud scored 1-2-1 Penobscot Valley’s second goal, unassisted, 13:42 into the second half. Josh Ireland made 21 saves on 24 shots.

Yun Jung scored on a Jake King assist with 4:43 left in the second half for 3-2 Lee Academy. Kris King made 14 saves on 16 shots.

Carrabec 3, Telstar 1

At Bethel, Corey McLaughlin scored the game’s first goal 5:45 into the first half on a Jeremy Howell assist to help Carrabec to its second win.

Derek Jordan and Mat Leger each netted a goal for the Cobras and Trey Gaw had an assist. John Chretien stopped eight of nine shots for 2-1 Carrabec.

Simon Dumont scored on a Kurt Wight assist for 1-1 Telstar. Blake Conrad made 11 saves on 14 shots.

Girls soccer

Fort Fairfield 2, Washburn 0

At Fort Fairfield, Libby Gardner scored 15:35 into the game Friday to help lift Fort Fairfield past Washburn.

Kerri Cunningham added a goal for the 5-3-1 Tigers, while Rachel Jackson and Brittany Guiou had assists. Dani Searles had two saves on four shots.

Kristen Carter stopped six out of 13 shots for the 1-8 Beavers.

Highview Chr. 4, East Grand 3

At Danforth, Linda Perrira scored a goal and had one assist to help Highview Christian of Charleston post the win.

Angela Francis, Jade Philbrick and Sarah Gringer each scored for the Knights. Alyssa Scott had two assists and Jane Philbrick had one. Danielle Day stopped 20 of 25 shots for 1-1 Highview Christian.

Marie Gilman netted three unassisted goals for 0-3 East Grand. Paula Osnoe made six saves on 16 shots.

Camden Hills 4, MCI 0

At Camden, Beth Herron posted a shutout, stopping both shots she faced for the Windjammers.

Erika Johnson, Kayla Gushee, Caitlin Brown and Lexie Coleman had a goal apiece for 2-1 Camden Hills.

Casey Dodge had 13 saves on 21 shots for the 0-3 Huskies of Pittsfield.

Woodland 5, Washington Acad. 0

At Woodland, Kaitlyn Leeman scored two goals and shared goaltending duties with Lauren Troiani (four saves, four shots) as the Dragons thumped the Raiders.

Tiffany Wormell and Tabitha Hagenaars notched a goal each for 2-0 Woodland while Erica Brown and Alicia Vose posted assists.

Meghann Rose made 17 saves on 23 shots for 0-2 Washington Academy of East Machias.

Belfast 5, Oak Hill 0

At Sabattus, Sam Ellis netted two goals and had an assist to power the Lions to their third straight win.

Abi Maycock, Cait Cross and Cali Slaughter each scored a goal for 3-0 Belfast. Emily Worth and Audrey Jarrett provided assists and Bryna Harrington stopped all six shots she faced.

Shannon Safford made 11 saves on 16 shots for 1-2 Oak Hill.

JV: Belfast 3-0

Greenville 8, Calvary Chapel 2

At Greenville, freshman Hannah Breton scored four goals, three unassisted, to lead the Lakers to victory.

Crystal Ferris chipped in with two goals and two assists for the 2-0-1 Lakers while Kristin Sutherland and Tasha Elsmore each added a goal. Kristie Richardson notched an assist and Beth Bartley made seven saves on nine shots.

For 2-1 Calvary Chapel of Orrington, Kelly Miller scored two goals and Chauntel Veilleux added an assist. Jessica Graves made 20 saves on 28 shots.

Valley 4, Windham Christian 3

At Bingham, Whitney Strickland scored two goals to lead Valley to its first win of the season.

Kristin Baker and Melanie Vicneire both scored for the 1-1-1 Cavaliers. Lera McCandless had an assist and Loretta Fitzmaurice made eight saves on 11 shots.

Jess Taylor netted two goals for 0-2 Windham Christian and Krissy Varney added a goal. Bree Reynolds blocked 18 of 22 shots.

Field hockey

Belfast 2, MCI 0

At Pittsfield, Liz Anderson made eight saves on nine shots to get the shutout for the Lions.

Brit Reed and Kelsey Jackson notched a goal each for Belfast.

Tara Weeman made six saves on eight shots for the Huskies.
