A customer at a Brewer adult video and bookstore reportedly ripped up a protester’s sign Wednesday night.
Brewer police Officer Roger Hershey reported that at about 6 p.m. he went to Pandora’s Boxxx on South Main Street, where about a dozen people were protesting outside.
A man had reportedly left the store, yelled profanities at the protesters and grabbed one of their signs.
Hershey said the man reportedly ripped the sign up and threw the pieces in the protesters’ direction. The man then left.
Store personnel said they had never seen the man before. None of the protesters took a license plate number.
Bangor police arrested a man early Wednesday in connection with a series of harassing phone calls received in Old Town.
Old Town police Officer Seth Bear reported that late Tuesday night, police received a call from a South Main Street woman who said she had received profanity-filled voice mail messages and phone calls all evening.
All the calls reportedly came from the same Bangor number, according to the complainant’s caller identification system.
Bear said he dialed the number and spoke with a Todd Pelletier, 36, of Bangor, who told him a woman he didn’t know had made the calls from his phone, but she had left.
About five minutes later, Bear said, the complainant called again saying she had received another call from the same number.
Bear said Officer Tom Adams told him the police department also started receiving calls from the same Bangor number, also featuring loud music and a woman swearing.
At about half past midnight, after repeated warnings over the phone, Old Town police asked Bangor police to warn Pelletier in person to stop the calls.
At about 1:15 a.m., Bear said, calls continued to come in to the station and to the complainant’s house, so he requested that Bangor police arrest Pelletier for harassment by telephone, which they did.
Bear said the calls stopped after the arrest.
