Riverfest includes music, dog show

OLD TOWN – Old Town Riverfest 2003 – set for Friday through Sunday, Sept. 26-28 – offers football, music, a dog show, a bug man and many other activities geared to appeal to families. Most events will take place at the Riverfront Park in downtown Old Town.

Friday, Sept. 26

. 6:30 p.m., opening ceremonies by Brother Rex-Anthony Norris.

. 7 p.m., Old Town High School football game, Victory Field.

. 7-11 p.m., dance downtown with DJ Dave Fortier. Free. Country, classic rock and contemporary. Concessions and food available.

. 9:15 p.m., fireworks by Blue Hill Pyrotechnics.

Saturday, Sept. 27

. 7 a.m., pancake breakfast, Old Town Booster Club.

. 8:30 a.m., Old Town Police Department bike auction.

. 10 a.m., parade, from Old Town High School to Holy Family parking lot. Grand marshal, Gary Thorne.

. 11 a.m.-4 p.m., festival grounds open.

. 11 a.m.-2 p.m., petting zoo and pony rides.

. 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Golden Moments trained dogs demonstration.

. Noon-3 p.m., bingo.

. 1 p.m., firemen’s muster, behind Marsh Island Carry.

. Noon-4 p.m., music program for children with Julie and the Bug Boys. Also, Sweet Adelines, Skyliners Band, Dixieland Band and Penobscot River Ramblers.

Sunday, Sept. 28

. Fun Dog Show, registration at noon, showtime 1 p.m., Knights of Columbus Field. Fee is $1 per class entered. Classes include biggest dog, waggiest tail, cutest puppy, best trick and others.

New to the program this year are boot camp, laser tag, Andy the Bug Man, and the giant slide.
