United Way meeting celebrates successes

BANGOR – United Way of Eastern Maine gathered more than 140 community leaders to celebrate the accomplishments of the last year at its annual meeting.

A year after announcing a new strategic direction that entails engaging volunteers, fostering collaboration, encouraging innovation and advocacy as well as providing financial support, United Way announced its success in bringing multiple resources to bear on the most pressing needs in the community.

Last year, through gifts from donors and grant makers, United Way invested more than $3 million in eastern Maine.

Incoming board members are Yellow Light Breen, general counsel at Bangor Savings Bank; the Rev. Bill Imes, president of Bangor Theological Seminary; Lynn Madden-Moretti, vice president and chief operations officer at Acadia Hospital; and Robert Sutcliffe, a lawyer at Rudman and Winchell.
