ACADIA NATIONAL PARK – The national park will again open the historic Beech Mountain Fire Tower to the public on Oct. 11 and Oct. 18.
Situated on top of Beech Mountain, near Somesville, the tower provides a panoramic view of Mount Desert Island and the surrounding Down East coastline. If the weather cooperates, fall colors should be spectacular.
In conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, park rangers will provide information about wild-land fire and fire prevention.
Hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For directions or additional information, call Park Information at 288-3338.
