Franck scores 4, as Stearns rolls

HERMON – Holly Franck scored all four goals as the Stearns Minutemen defeated the Hermon Hawks 4-1 in high school field hockey action Saturday.

Franck was assisted by Trisha MacDonald and twice by Leslie Osborne. Deanna Michaud had seven saves on eight shots for the 3-3 Minutemen of Millinocket.

Jessica Deprey scored off an assist by Kat Cyr and Meagan McCready saved eight of twelve shots for the 0-5 Hawks.

JV: Stearns 3-0

Mattanawcook 2, Orono 1

At Lincoln, Shannon Pietras scored the game-winner off a breakaway with 11 minutes left in the second half.

Jen Oliver scored in the second half as 3-2 Mattanawcook rallied from a one-goal deficit. Pietras assisted on Oliver’s goal. Colleen Cloran and Ashley Emery combined for 11 saves on 17 shots.

Katie Wagner scored in the first half for 2-2-2 Orono. Ana Blagojevic stopped eight of 14 shots.

JV: Mattanawcook 3-0

John Bapst 2, Brewer 1 (2OT)

At Bangor, Erica Getchell knocked in the game-winner off a Sarah Connolly pass with 43 seconds to play in the second overtime.

Ashley Freeman tied the score with four seconds left in regulation for 5-2 John Bapst. Getchell had the assist. Julia Sleeper had three saves on six shots.

Jessica O’Connell scored in the first half for the 1-5 Witches. Lucienne Merrill dished out an assist. Sarah England stopped 25 out of 31 shots.

JV: John Bapst 1-0

Girls soccer

Presque Isle 4, Nokomis 1

At Presque Isle, Emily Richardson recorded two goals to lead the Wildcats.

Katie Delong tallied a goal and dished out two assists for 7-0-1 Presque Isle and Rachel Blackstone added a goal. Melissa Demerchant made five saves on 11 shots and had an assist.

Aimee Paradis scored an unassisted goal for the 2-3-1 Warriors of Newport. Rozlyn Peterson stopped eight of 14 shots.

JV: Presque Isle 5-0

Fort Kent 1, Hermon 0

At Fort Kent, Gabrielle Cyr knocked in a pass from Lindsey Cyr to lift Fort Kent.

Mindy Morneault had 12 saves on 15 shots for the 3-5-1 Warriors.

Shannon Dobbins blocked six of 11 shots for 2-1-1 Hermon.

Highview Chr. 9, Averill 0

At Charleston, Alyssa Scott and Angela Francis tallied three goals apiece.

Lisa Cooper tallied a goal plus an assist for the 1-2 winners while Sara Gerinter and Linda Pereira added a goal each. Danielle Day stopped all four shots she faced.

Kayla Beaulieu blocked 15 out of 24 shots for the 0-3 Beavers of Hinckley.

Rangeley 4, Valley 1

At Bingham, Ashley Quimby scored twice for the 2-1-1 Lakers. Amber Shinas and Rosie LaPointe each added goals. Justine Frost-Kolva saved nine of 10 shots.

Melaine Vicneire had a goal for the 1-3-1 Cavaliers. Loretta Fitzmaurice faced 10 shots with nine saves.

Bucksport 1, Orono 0

At Bucksport, the Golden Bucks recorded the only score of the game when the ball deflected off an Orono player and into the goal.

Katie Hurd saved five of seven shots for the 2-2-1 Bucks. For the 2-2 Red Riots, Marie Lint had six saves on 11 shots.

Greenville 3, Shead 0

At Eastport, Hannah Breton had two goals and an assist to lead the Lakers to the win.

Crystal Ferris notched a goal and Kristie Richardson an assist for 6-0-1 Greenville. Beth Bartley stopped all four shots she faced.

Brittany Cox turned away six out of 10 shots for the 2-3 Tigerettes.

John Bapst 5, Foxcroft 0

At Bangor, Meryl Greenlaw registered three goals to lead the Crusaders past the Ponies.

Karen Defillipo and Ashley Sanford added a goal apiece for 3-2 John Bapst. Ashley Pearson made three saves on five shots.

Kate Walsh had 16 saves against 26 shots for 1-3-1 Foxcroft.

Boys soccer

Presque Isle 6, Nokomis 0

At Presque Isle, Benji Lynch recorded a hat trick and Nate Carter knocked in two goals as the Wildcats rolled.

Robert Gartley added a goal and Trevor Graves two assists for 5-0-2 Presque Isle. Andy Graves, Jeff Cole and Sean Daigle notched an assist each, and Brad Baker and Brian James combined to stop five shots.

Brendan Donaldson made 17 saves on 23 shots for the 1-4-1 Warriors of Newport.

JV: Presque Isle 5-0

Hermon 2, Fort Kent 0

At Fort Kent, Scott Riendeau and Joey Carmichael scored unassisted goals to lead the Hawks past the Warriors.

Corey Archer stopped both shots he faced for 3-1 Hermon.

Derek Plourde stopped two out of four shots for 5-2-2 Fort Kent.

Schenck 3, Houlton 0

At East Millinocket, Tyler Thompson tallied two goals to lead the Wolverines.

Aaron Waite added a goal for 3-2-1 Schenck and Evan Thompson made five saves on 14 shots.

Chad Nelson had three saves on five shots for 0-8 Houlton.

Highview Chr. 10, Averill 1

At Charleston, Lucas Soares racked up seven goals as the Knights ran past the Beavers.

Cameron Smith had a goal plus two assists and Anthony Kneeland a goal and assist for 5-0 Highview Christian. Thiago Martinelli added a goal and Andy Richard an assist. Devon Philbrick, who also had an assist, combined with Aaron Waite to make three saves on five shots.

Mino Mango scored an unassisted goal for 1-4 Averill of Hinckley. Chris Sidelinger had seven saves against 30 shots.

Orono 5, Bucksport 1

At Bucksport, Aloysha Klose knocked in three goals as the Riots rolled past the Bucks.

Dominque Raschle and Sam Walton added a goal apiece for 2-2-1 Orono while Dan Skull, Tom Smyth and Chris McCannon had assists. Matt Lint stopped six out of 12 shots.

Andrew Johnson scored off a Ashton Gourley pass for 0-5 Bucksport. Miles Bisher made seven saves on 15 shots.

Greenville 2, Vinalhaven 0

At Northport, Jonah Lizotte registered both goals and Corey Woodbury assisted on one for the Lakers.

Brandon Lavigne had two saves on five shots for 3-2-1 Greenville.

Josh Doughty and Tyler Philbrook combined to stop 14 out of 24 shots for the 0-5-1 Vikings.

Penquis 1, Penobscot Valley 1

At Howland, Justin Allen of Penquis scored with 27:35 left in regulation to send the game to overtime and the Patriots and the Howlers played to a double-overtime tie.

Kevin Nason stopped 34 of 35 shots for 2-2-1 Penquis.

Garrett Lavertu netted a goal about seven minutes into the first half for 2-2-3 Penobscot Valley. Josh Ireland made 25 saves on 26 shots.

John Bapst 4, Foxcroft Acad. 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, four different scorers helped the 4-1 Crusaders roll past the 0-6 Ponies.

Alex Means, Ben Fenney, Sam Heathcote and Nick Hubbard all had goals. Means also had an assist. Rick Hathaway saved 14 of 24 shots.

Brad Bellemare had 10 saves on 18 shots for Foxcroft.
