BANGOR – The city’s planning board will consider tonight two development matters connected to a baseball stadium project at Husson College during a special meeting at City Hall.
During the session, which begins at 7 p.m. in the council chambers, the board will consider granting site development approval for work being done at Husson, including property improvements that have been completed but not previously permitted.
The board also will consider modifying Husson’s state site location of development permit to include additional seating at the existing baseball field. Though the permit falls under the state Department of Environmental Protection’s purview, the state has delegated its authority in that case to the city.
If the stadium plan is realized, next spring the Winkin Sports Complex at Husson will become home field for the Bangor Lumberjacks, the city’s independent minor league baseball team.
The team recently completed its first season but played home games at the University of Maine in Orono.
