Hornets edge Warriors

ASHLAND – Jessica Jacques had a goal and an assist as the Ashland girls soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over Southern Aroostook Tuesday in high school action.

Jacques scored off a Caitlin Sherman assist. She also assisted on a Beth Chamberlin goal in the first half for the 6-1-2 Hornets. Ashley Nemer stopped 12 of 13 shots.

Audrey Charrette and Erin Caswell combined to make 24 saves on 28 attempts for the 4-5-1 Warriors of Dyer Brook.

Schenck 2, Katahdin 1

At Sherman Station, Megan Carey made 16 saves on 28 shots to help the Wolverines of East Millinocket notch their third win against four losses.

Cortney McLaughlin and Jessica Day scored for Schenck with Laura Davis and Kristen Nicholson collecting assists.

Michelle Martin scored for 4-5-1 Katahdin off a Krystle McMoarn pass and Jayme Green made 10 saves on 14 shots.

Shead 7, WA Raiders 1

At Eastport, junior Skylar Richardson had four goals and two assists as the host Tigers improved to 4-3 on the season.

Laureta Ricker added two goals and three assists, while Patricia Candelmo had a goal and two assists, Celia Cummings had two assists and Fawn Cummings had one assist.

Angie Ashby scored for the Raiders of East Machias on an assist from Lauren Finn.

Brittany Cox made nine saves on 10 shots for Shead. Megann Rose made 10 saves on 17 shots for 0-5 Washington Academy.

Searsport 5, Bangor Christian 1

At Bangor, Abby Tripp and Nori Francis-Metzger both scored an goal and had an assist to help Searsport past Bangor Christian.

Martha Landmesser, Jessica Wilson, and Teresa Cameron each netted a goal for the Vikings. April Pickering stopped five of six shots for 5-1 Bucksport.

Amber Leathers scored on a Karla Wilson assist in the first half for the 3-3 Patriots as Johannah Kutz made 10 saves on 15 shots.

Calais 2, Narraguagus 0

At Harrington, Darcy Gillespie scored an unassisted goal in the second half to help lead Calais to the upset win.

Emily Smith also scored without an assist in the second half for the 1-4 Blue Devils as Stephanie Perry blocked 14 of 17 shots.

Alicia Tenney made 16 saves on 20 attempts for 4-1 Narraguagus.

Ellsworth 0, Orono 0 (2OT)

At Ellsworth, the Eagles’ Victoria Jones made two saves while Orono’s Marie Lint made 10 saves in the scoreless tie.

Ellsworth (1-2-3) outshot Orono 18-5. The Red Riots go to 2-2-1.

Bangor 2, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Jessie Roberts scored the game’s first goal on a penalty kick with 21:31 left in the first half to give the Rams their seventh win of the season.

Amanda Mooers scored on a Roberts assist with 30:02 left in the second half for 7-0-1 Bangor and Ilyse Angst stopped all three shots that she faced.

Taylor Greenlaw blocked nine of 11 shots for 3-3 John Bapst of Bangor.

Penquis 7, PCHS 1

At Milo, Shannon Gerrish scored a pair of goals and Kate Hamlin contributed a goal and an assist as the Patriots improved to 5-1.

Erika Morrill, Sam Ellis, Crystal Sanborn and Erin Beasley had the other Penquis goals and Christina Gerrish had an assist. Nicole Nason and Michelle Mulherin combined for two saves on four shots.

Stephanie Taylor scored for 0-7 Piscataquis of Guilford and Myra Littlefield made 20 saves on 28 shots.

Hermon 5, Foxcroft 2

At Dover-Foxcroft, Alisa Petrello scored a pair of goals and Cassie White supplied the Hawks with an important insurance goal in the second half.

White’s goal extended the lead to 4-2 and Megan Watson added another. Gillian Miller also scored for Hermon and Anna Graves had an assist.

Shannon Wiggin made eight saves on 17 shots for 3-1-1 Hermon.

Leslie Nelson staved 1-4-1 Foxcroft to a 1-0 lead off an Erika Kaufmann pass and Kristi Roberts pulled the Ponies within 3-2 in the second half.

Katie Walsh made 17 saves on 22 shots.

JV: Hermon 2-1

Nokomis 4, Brewer 2

At Newport, Amy Preble, Miranda Picard, Kristina Gonzalez and Aimee Paradis scored for 3-4-1 Nokomis and Rozlyn Peterson made fives saves on 11 shots.

Rhysa Washburn and Hayley Quirk scored for 1-5 Brewer. Ana Bean made 17 saves on 26 shots.

Highview Chr. 5, GPC 4 (2OT)

At Charleston, Linda Pereira took a Sarah Geringer and sailed a shot from beyond the penalty area into the top right hand with three minutes left in the second overtime to give Highview Christian the win.

Angela Francis had two goals for 3-2 Highview Christian, including the tying goal with 10 minutes remaining, while Geringer and Alyssa Scott had the others. Danielle Day made 17 saves on 27 shots.

Caitlin Fillmore’s two goals led 2-2 Greater Portland Christian. Kelsey Yarborough and Emily Johnson had the others and Rosa Pauwels made nine saves on 18 shots.

Boys soccer

Bangor 1, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Adam Towne scored on a penalty kick with 13:15 left to lift the visiting Rams to victory over their crosstown rivals.

Austin Smith saved all 16 shots he faced for 4-3 Bangor. Rick Hathaway saved 13 of 14 shots for 4-2 John Bapst.

JV: Bangor 1-0

Brewer 3, Nokomis 2

At Brewer, Eric Whitney scored the game-winning goal with 19:50 left in the second half to give Brewer their first win of the season.

Randy Moore and Matt Quimby each netted a goal for the Withches as Ben Davis and Whitney both had an assist. Dan Juilli blocked 12 of 19 shots for 1-5 Brewer.

David Sacks and Evan McDaniel each scored unassisted goals for 1-5-1 Nokomis and Zack Wing made eight saves on 15 shots.

JV: 0-0

Hermon 6, Foxcroft 1

At Hermon, Jason Shorey scored three goals for the victorious Hawks.

Adam Gould added a goal and two assists, while Wyatt Sabo and Ryan Tarr each scored a goal, Scott Riendeau had two assists and Joey Carmichael chipped in with one assist.

Leonard Sheen scored for Foxcroft on a penalty kick.

Josiah Curtis made two saves on three shots for 4-1 Hermon. Brad Bellemare made six saves on 12 shots for 0-7 Foxcroft.

JV: 1-1

Calvary Chapel 4, Seacoast Chr. 1

At South Berwick, Brock Bradford knocked in three goals and his brother Kyle Bradford added another as the Sabres rolled.

Kyle Bradford, John Burke and Andrew Lowe each contributed an assist. Tyler Gans earned the win in goal.

Blake Watterson scored for Seacoast Christian and goalie Roman Archer took the loss.

Highview Chr. 2, GPC 2 (2OT)

At Charleston, Lucas Soares scored the game-tying goal with 14 seconds left in the second half for Highview Christian to force the game into overtime.

Soares scored the Knights’ first goal in the second half with 2:12 left in the second to start a two-goal rally. Devan Philbrick and Aaron Waite combined to make 13 saves on 20 shots for 5-0-1 Highview Christian.

Derek Green and Josh Rudolph each scored a goal for 1-2-1 Greater Portland Christian and Quishi Uang made an assist. Kevin Schooley stopped 23 of 31 attempts.

Field hockey

Belfast 2, Leavitt 0

At Belfast, Sara Flagg scored on a Britt Reed and Kallie Aldus assist in the second half to help lead Belfast to the win.

Celia Grotz netted a goal with the aid of Flagg for the 5-1 Lions and Amanda Littlefield blocked all ten shots that she faced.

Kelly Campbell blocked 14 of 16 attempts for 4-2 Leavitt.

JV: Leavitt 2-0

Stearns 2, Orono 0

At Orono, Jamie Johnson scored a goal in each half as Stearns improved its record to 4-3.

Johnson scored unassisted in the first half, and on an assist from Leslie Osbourne after intermission.

Deanna Michaud earned the shutout by saving all nine shots she faced. Ana Blagojevic made nine saves on 11 shots for 2-4-1 Orono.

Central 2, Piscataquis 1

At Guilford, Jenny Rollins netted an unassisted goal with 24:47 left in the first half to help lead Central of Corinth past Piscataquis.

Kourtney Hersey scored on a Shawna Bell assist with 27:56 left in the second half for the 4-2 Red Devils and Jenna Dauphinee blocked five of six shots.

Tedianne Galuski scored on a penalty stroke with 3:40 left in the second half for 4-2 Piscataquis and Amy Knowlton made five saves on seven attempts.
