Bangor

Anniversary luncheon

The Small Business Administration, SCORE, the Maine Small Business Development Centers and the Small Business Administration Women’s Business Center at CEI will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Spectacular Event Center, 395 Griffin Road, to commemorate the SBA’s 50th anniversary. Hector Barreto, SBA administrator, will be the guest speaker.

This year in New England, as of Aug. 31, the SBA has participated in more than 6,000 loans totaling more than $600 million to help entrepreneurs start and grow small businesses.

Senior vice president

Arthur A. Comstock of Orono has joined UnitedKingfield Bank, 145 Exchange St., as senior vice president-senior market manager for Penobscot County.

Comstock will be responsible for business development and will focus on the financial needs of businesses, their owners and their employees. He also will oversee the bank’s community relations in Greater Bangor.

Comstock has held many positions – from branch manager to CEO – in his 44 years in the commercial banking industry. Most recently, he served as vice president of charitable asset management with Fleet Bank of Maine, where he worked from 1989 to 2003.

Previously, he was regional executive officer with Norstar Bank, president and CEO of Northeast Bank and Trust in Bangor, and chairman, president and CEO of Northeast Bank of Millinocket.

MPBC personnel changes

Cordelia Kellett, France Shea and Bonnie Adams have joined the Maine Public Broadcasting Corp.

Kellett will serve as a coordinator for MPBC’s Ready to Learn and National Teacher Training Institute programs, and will assist in other educational services at Maine Public Broadcasting. She holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Maine and a bachelor’s degree in German from Smith College.

Shea will be responsible for implementing educational preschool, kindergarten through grade 12, post-secondary and lifelong learning services, as well as developing new, related educational services. She also will research and develop grant proposals. Shea previously was manager of community relations for MPBC.

Adams has joined the staff as director of major and planned gifts. She attended Thomas College and the University of Maine at Augusta. She is the former owner and president of Lewiston Travel Bureau.

Engineering team member

James E. Manzer has joined the team of engineers at Ames A/E Architects and Engineers. He is a graduate of the University of Maine and has experience in civil, environmental and mechanical engineering.

His experience includes management of industrial, transportation and remediation projects, including site, structural, utilities and mechanical systems. He is a member of the American Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Satellite television service

Owners Ola and Diana Tucker have opened Valley Satellite Superstore at 6 Frost Drive in the KFC Plaza. The Tuckers have owned and operated a Valley Satellite store in Patten for more than 20 years.

The couple’s son Ola Tucker Jr. and his wife, Rachel, are managing the new Bangor store, which offers satellite television service and antennas as well as cellular phones and accessories from Unicel, along with the latest in XM satellite radio. Valley Satellite Superstore also provides installation and service. The Bangor store hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Executive director

Julie McDonald has been hired by the Maine AIDS Alliance as executive director. She is a graduate of Colby College and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco. She previously worked for Tri-County Health Services as a reproductive health specialist in the Auburn and Norway clinics and was a counselor with the STD Clinic.

Old Town

Data services team

Michael D. Amos of Old Town has joined the technology team at Cianbro Data Services in Pittsfield. He was formerly a lead computer programmer for James W. Sewall Co. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Maine and an associate’s degree in electromechanical technology from Central Maine Technical College.
