A lawyer for a Waldo County landowner says the man will file a civil lawsuit today in Superior Court in Belfast against two hunters he alleges attacked him during a confrontation on his land near Thorndike two years ago.

The lawyer, Walter McKee of Augusta, said Wednesday that Richard Johnson of Jackson is bringing his lawsuit against Vincent DeCarlo of Foster, R.I., and Paul Dercole of Albion.

Johnson’s civil complaint says he was severely injured in the beating, which occurred when Johnson returned home and found the hunters in an area near neighbors’ homes. He blew the horn of the hunters’ vehicle to get their attention.

Johnson said he was punched by one or two men while others watched.

The suit seeks unspecified damages.

Neither of the men has a listed phone number, and The Associated Press could not reach either man for comment Wednesday.
