BANGOR – Barbra Francis of Penobscot Brown Ash Baskets in Old Town has donated a prize-winning basket to the annual March of Dimes Dinner Auction to be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Bangor Elks Club, Odlin Road. The Penobscot porcupine sea urchin-style basket won Best of Show at the Lawrence Kansas Indian Art Show in 1999. Francis has signed and dated the donated basket, adding to its value.
More than $10,000 worth of items will be auctioned. Guests may bid on romance packages to Bar Harbor, Portland and the midcoast, a windbreaker signed by Ricky Craven and a miniature car autographed by Tony Stewart. More than 10 restaurants have donated food. Maine humorist Clyde Folsom and singer Elzada Parsons will provide entertainment.
