EAST MILLINOCKET – Hundreds of people turned out Friday to pay respects to slain Colby College student Dawn Rossignol at a funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Rossignol, 21, was abducted last week from a Colby parking lot and murdered. Her body was found Sept. 17 in Oakland near a stream. Edward Hackett, a parolee from the Utah prison system, has been charged with her murder.
The Rev. Richard Malo said Rossignol’s death has profoundly affected people who live in the Millinocket area, where Rossignol grew up. But residents will get through the ordeal with the help of God and friends, Malo said
After the service, friends remembered Rossignol as a fun friend, a popular baby sitter and an “awesome person.”
