A “yes” answer to one or more of these questions means your child is at increased risk for lead poisoning. Ask your health care provider to test your child’s blood.

1. Does your child live in, or visit more than 10 hours per week, any house built before 1950, including day care, church, grandparents, friends or any combination?

2. Does your child live in, or visit more than 10 hours per week, any house built before 1978 that was renovated or remodeled within the past six months?

3. Does your child spend time with an adult whose job is construction, painting or fishing? These occupations expose workers to lead paint dust, which may be carried home on clothes or other surfaces.

4. Is your child enrolled in MaineCare or Medicaid? These children are at higher risk than most of exposure to lead paint.
