Holden police arrested a local man Monday night after his federal probation was revoked.

Officer Chris Greeley said Lt. Paul Haslam received word from the U.S. Marshal’s Office that probation had been revoked for David A. Lee, 39, of Holden and a warrant put out for his arrest.

Greeley said it was likely Lee had violated the conditions of his probation. Haslam and Greeley went to Lee’s Levenseller Road home and arrested the man, who Greeley said was “not exactly excited,” but not uncooperative.

Lee will be held at Penobscot County Jail without bail until he is released into the custody of federal marshals. Greeley said Lee probably would appear before the federal magistrate Tuesday.

Lee has been convicted several times for assaulting women. He was sentenced in 1997 to seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and to illegal possession of a sawed-off shotgun.

Bangor police arrested a woman on a theft charge Sunday night.

Officer Steve Jordan reported that at about 10:20 p.m. he went to Leadbetter’s Store on Ohio Street in response to a shoplifting complaint.

Jordan said he arrived to find the suspect walking on the sidewalk near the store. When he asked the woman, Joanne Chase of Bangor, what she had taken from the store, she told him she had just bought a cup of coffee.

Jordan said Chase offered to let him search her purse. Jordan noticed Chase was holding her left arm close to her body. While Jordan searched the purse, an employee came out of the store and told the officer that he had seen Chase put a package of nutcrackers and lobster picks in her inside pocket.

Chase allegedly said she didn’t have an inside pocket, but as she moved Jordan saw the end of a silver nutcracker inside her jacket. He pulled the jacket aside, revealing a shellfish cracker. Jordan found another cracker and some lobster forks and arrested Chase.

At Penobscot County Jail, Jordan said, a corrections officer found a straw with white powder in it in Chase’s purse. Chase was charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bangor police arrested a man on warrants from two counties Monday morning.

Officer Shawn Green reported that at about 5 a.m. he went to a parking lot and interviewed Stephenson Keene, 30, of Bangor. After Green left, dispatch informed him Keene had active warrants from Kennebec and Piscataquis counties.

Green said federal security personnel notified him that Keene was on Harlow Street. He arrested Keene there.

Keene’s warrants included failing to appear for charges of operating under the influence, operating after suspension, and criminal trespass.
