BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

JOSH ALDUS

Aldus, a senior tailback for the Belfast High football team, scored five consecutive touchdowns for the Lions during the first half of their win at Old Town last Friday. Aldus rushed for three scores and returned two punts 40 and 45 yards for touchdowns. Aldus now has scored 14 touchdowns in the Lions’ 4-0 start this season.

Small School (Classes C-D)

BEN DeMERCHANT

DeMerchant, a senior cross country runner from Fort Fairfield, pulled off a big midseason victory by taking top honors at the 55th Sectional Invitational held at Old Town on Saturday. DeMerchant ran with the pack early, then pulled away to win the 3-mile race by 22 seconds in a time of 16 minutes, 22 seconds.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

CASSIE HINTZ

Hintz, a member of the Old Town High cross country team, won the 55th Sectional Invitational and set a record of 18 minutes, 28 seconds on the 3-mile course in Old Town. Her time was almost a minute better than that of her closest competitor and the Indians finished third in the meet.

Small School (Classes C-D)

KELSY SNOWMAN

Snowman, a senior setter for the Woodland High volleyball team, led the Dragons to three wins with 46-for-52 serving, eight aces, 21 kills, 43 assists and 13 digs. The three-time defending state champion Dragons are 9-1.
