PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Brittany Howe had 15 kills and Alaina Kleparek added 12 kills as the University of Maine beat Delaware State University on its way to a two-match volleyball sweep Friday at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore’s East Shore Invitational.

The 8-10 Black Bears beat Delaware State 30-18, 30-15, 30-9, then defeated Alabama State 30-24, 30-19, 30-21.

In the first match, Howe and Kleparek paced UMaine to victory. Shelly Seipp racked up 39 assists and five digs.

Melissa Truman had 13 digs for 2-9 Delaware State and Keysha Tiller added 12 digs.

In the second match, Kleparek had 10 kills to lead the Bears past Alabama State. Seipp registered 20 assists, Kaili Jordan posted five kills and nine digs, and Brooke Truong had seven kills and nine digs.

Cambresha Bodney had 11 kills for 6-14 Alabama State and Shameka Shanklin had seven digs.
