BANGOR – Steve Dalton scored his second goal of the second half with 10:24 remaining to give the Mount Desert Island Trojans a 2-1 schoolboy soccer win over the John Bapst Crusaders Saturday.

Dalton also had scored eight minutes into the half. Both goals were assisted by Rich Hilliard. Dan Lyons made nine saves on 10 shots.

Brian Roach had tied it for 5-4 John Bapst when he converted a Kyle Maynard pass with 24:26 left. Rick Hathaway made 11 saves on 13 shots.

JV: MDI 2-1 (2OT)

Presque Isle 7, Bucksport 1

At Presque Isle, Nate Carter, Trevor Graves and Benji Lynch each had a goal plus an assist as the Wildcats rolled.

Brandon Hale, Jeff Cole, Kyle Rideout and Greg Whittaker added goals for 8-1-2 Presque Isle. Sean Daigle, Brad Baker and Brian Jones combined to make five saves on six shots.

Teddy Cooke scored an unassisted goal for the 0-9 Golden Bucks. Miles Bisher stopped 20 out of 27 shots.

JV: Presque Isle 7-0

Girls soccer

Greenville 2, Rangeley 0

At Greenville, Crystal Ferris scored two goals and Lauren Dallen assisted on one as the Greenville Lakers blanked Rangeley.

Beth Bartley had five saves on nine shots for 9-0-1 Greenville.

Justina Frost-Kolva stopped nine out of 19 shots for the 6-2-1 Lakers.

Lee 7, Penobscot Valley 4

At Howland, Shelby Pickering knocked in four goals to lead the Pandas by the Howlers.

Marci Moors, Sam Cote and Kristen Hersom added goals for 8-0 Lee. Jackie Moors faced 24 shots and saved 12 of them.

Ashley Dawson led 4-4-1 Penobscot Valley with two goals. Sarah Colbath and Randy Rackley added goals of their own. Jenn Plourde had 10 saves on 24 shots.

East Grand 3, Cal. Chap. 3 (2OT)

At Danforth, Sarah Rodier had two goals and Marie Gilman two assists in the second half as the Vikings rallied from a 3-0 deficit.

Gina Zaneldin added a goal for East Grand. Paula Osnoe and Jody Krose made 17 saves on 24 shots between them.

Kelly Miller scored two goals and Monique Veilleux added another for the Sabers of Orrington. Jade Bossy and Chantel Veilleux had assists. Jess Graves saw eight shots and blocked five of them.

Katahdin 3, Schenck 3 (2OT)

At East Millinocket, the Wolverines and Cougars of Sherman Station played to a stalemate in two overtimes.

Gaby Rioux, Courtney McLaughlin and Jessica Day scored goals for Katahdin and Laura Davis added an assist. Megan Carey had nine saves on 14 shots.

Crystle McMoarn had a goal and assist to lead Schenck. Ronni Robinson and K.C. Duffy added a goal each and clarissa Gallagher stopped 12 out of 21 shots.

Presque Isle 3, Bucksport 0

At Presque Isle, Natasha Deschene had a goal plus an assist to lead the Wildcats to the win.

Katie DeLong and Stephanie Holton added goals and Nicole James an assist for 9-0-1 Presque Isle. Melissa DeMerchant stopped the only shot she faced.

Alice Andrews had 11 saves on 14 shots for the 4-5-1 Golden Bucks.

Bangor 3, Caribou 2

At Caribou, Serena Dubois tallied two goals and Jessie Roberts chipped in a goal and assist as the Rams edged Caribou.

Ilyse Angst made three saves on six shots for 8-1-1 Bangor.

Lindsay Burlock and Lauren Harrigan knocked in a goal each for the 7-3 Vikings. Amelia Cote added an assist. Billie Martin blocked nine out of 14 shots.

Hermon 1, Foxcroft 1 (2OT)

At Hermon, Cassie Wiggin scored an unassisted goal with 13:50 left, helping the Hawks earn a tie with the Ponies.

Shannon Wiggin made eight saves on nine shots for 3-3-3 Hermon.

Ashley Hall had put 2-6-2 Foxcroft Academy ahead with a goal set up by Erica Kaufman. Kate Walsh made 18 saves on 21 shots.

Orono 1, Ellsworth 0

At Orono, Lindsey Colbath scored off a pass from Katie Glencross to lift the Red Riots to the win.

Marie Lint had eight saves on 11 shots for Orono.

Victoria Jones stopped nine out of 13 shots for the Eagles.

Old Town 5, Fort Kent 1

At Fort Kent, Hannah Marquis scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Old Town Indians to the win.

Katie Bergeron had a goal and two assists for the 4-5 Indians. Allison Gallant and Jen Higgins each scored a goal while Whitney Carey saved five of 11 shots.

Melissa Morneault scored unassisted for the 3-6-1 Warriors and Mindy Morneault made nine saves on 17 shots.

Woodland 2, Narraguagus 1

At Woodland, senior midfielder Beth Covey scored the game-winning goal with 14 minutes left in the first half off an assist from Erika Brown.

Brown scored the first goal off an assist by Gena Clark for the 8-1-1 Dragons. Lauren Troiani saved four of six shots.

For the 5-2-1 Narraguagus Knights of Harrington, Lou Torrey scored unassisted and Alicia Tenney had 14 saves on 25 shots.

Football

Dexter 6, Orono 0

At Dexter, Billy Green’s one-yard touchdown plunge up the middle on fourth down in overtime gave the Dexter Tigers their first win of the season.

Offense was hard to come by in this game as the Tigers barely edged the Red Riots in total offense – 136 total yards to 134. Green accounted for 51 of those yards with 28 carries.

The key defensive play occurred when Dexter’s front line stopped Joey Fullwood 11/2 yards short of a touchdown on fourth down in overtime on a toss sweep play to the left. Linebacker Brad Chase led the Tigers with 13 tackles. Blake Woodruff had nine.

Joey Fullwood led all ballcarriers with 103 yards on 26 carries for the Riots.

Dexter (1-4) 0 0 0 0 6 – 6

D – Green 1 run (kick failed)

Morse 12, MDI 0

At Mount Desert, Jared Dunn had 162 yards on 22 carries and a 32-yard touchdown jaunt as the Shipbuilders earned their first win.

Sean Pauhaus added a three-yard touchdown run for Morse of Bath. He finished with 57 yards on 15 carries.

Isaac Lewis led the Trojans with 18 yards on seven carries.

Stearns 41, Maranacook 0

At Readfield, the Stearns Minutemen of Millinocket did all their scoring in the first half and didn’t look back as they shut out the Maranacook Black Bears.

Gene Kim carried the ball 12 times for 76 yards and Matt Wark four times for 52 as the Minutemen took their starters out midway through the second quarter.

Stearns’ defense held Maranacook to 85 yards and three first downs. The 0-4 Bears ran the ball 25 times.
