Vandals ripped a huge tear through the fabric on the Maine Sports Complex on Coldbrook Road, deflating “the Bubble” for a short time late last week.
The dome was torn Friday between 2 a.m., when a Hampden police officer reported seeing it up, and about 9 a.m., according to Hampden police Officer Joseph Burke, who investigated the incident.
The tear, about 120 feet long, was discovered by complex officials. Repairs were made later that day. Re-inflation of the 35-foot-high air-supported complex began about 7:30 p.m. Friday, reported Burke.
The incident is still under investigation.
