Saturday was a good day for Colby College, which rolled over Wesleyan 31-7 as quarterback B.L. Lippert completed 16 of 22 passes for 244 yards in the New England Small College Athletic Conference game in Middletown, Conn.
Colby (2-1, 2-1) took a 7-0 lead by going 60 yards on 10 plays during its opening possession after forcing Wesleyan (2-1, 2-1) to punt after three plays to open the game. Lippert and running back Aaron Stepka provided all the yardage, with a Wesleyan penalty and a sack.
Bates picked up its first victory of the season as Ken Adams rushed for 119 yards and the game-winning touchdown with 1:18 left to seal a 10-7 win over Williams in Williamstown, Mass.
Williams (1-2, 1-2 NESCAC) opened the scoring late in the first quarter as Tyler Shea plunged in for a one-yard touchdown run. Nick Carr hit a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter to pull Bates (1-2, 1-2 NESCAC) within 7-3.
Williams fumbled on their own 36-yard line with 2:12 left, and Bates took the lead for good on a three-play, 36-yard scoring drive.
The win was Bates’ first in 16 meetings against Williams, and the first time in 128 games that the Ephs dropped back-to-back games at home.
In Medford, Mass., Tufts scored on its first two possessions and cruised to a 26-7 win over Bowdoin.
Marcellus Rolle kicked a pair of field goals, Kevin Holland caught a 6-yard touchdown pass, and Mark Tilki returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown as Tufts took a 19-0 halftime lead.
The Jumbos (3-0) outgained Bowdoin 387 to 187 yards, but lost their shutout late in the fourth quarter when Matt Boyd scored on a 3-yard run for Bowdoin (0-3).
Utica 36, Husson 0
At Utica, N.Y., sophomore running back Dave Hogan carried the ball 22 times for 152 yards and two touchdowns and his Utica College Pioneers handled Husson.
The Pioneers enjoyed their highest offensive game output in three years. Freshman quarterback Nick Martin completed 10 of 21 passes for 102 yards.
Josh Nowlin led Husson rushers with 84 yards on 22 carries. Quarterback Lee St. Hilaire of Winthrop was held to 42 yards on 5-for-19 passing. Husson fumbled the ball away five times.

At Castine, senior running back Anthony Smith rushed for 214 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries while leading the Nichols Bison past the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners.
Pat Bard of Winslow ran the ball 27 times for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Don Thibodeau had 139 yards and two TD’s on 30 carries.
