BOWDOINHAM – A trucker was killed when his rig carrying a load of french fries went out of control on Interstate 95 late Saturday and crashed in a ditch alongside the highway, state police said.

Richard Green, 49, of Presque Isle was pronounced dead after his southbound tractor-trailer veered out of the passing lane, crashed through the guardrail and flipped over in the median at 11:12 p.m. Saturday, state police said.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

French fries salvaged from the trailer were donated to Good Shepherd Food Bank in Lewiston and a homeless shelter in Brunswick, police said.
