LYNDONVILLE, VT. -Adam Zukowski and Andrew Link each scored unassisted goals to lift the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers to a 2-0 men’s soccer victory over the Lyndon State Hornets Tuesday.
Noah Peet earned his second straight shutout for the 7-3-1 Beavers with two saves.
Nick Rowe made six saves on 18 shots for 2-10 Lyndon State.
Bates 3, Southern Maine 1
At Gorham, David Shear netted the game-winning goal in the first half on a Dan Bradford assist to lead Bates College of Lewiston to the win.
Philip Johnson and Alex Wolff each scored a goal for the Bobcats while Kyle Rushton and Anthony Silva had assists. James Kenly made five saves on 14 shots for 3-5-1 Bates.
Ian Frank scored an unassisted goal in the second half for 2-6-2 University of Southern Maine and Dan Hills made seven saves on 15 shots.
Volleyball
UNH sweeps Maine
At Durham, N.H., Alyson Coler had 16 kills, 12 digs and 19 service points to lead the University of New Hampshire past the University of Maine 30-26, 30-22, 30-18 in an America East volleyball match Tuesday.
Erin Walker added 15 kills and 17 points for 10-9 New Hampshire. Sasha Scott had 16 digs and Jen Williams added 15 digs.
Leah Guidinger had 12 kills and 12 points to lead the 9-12 Black Bears. Shelly Seipp provided 12 assists and 10 digs, Jody Connacher had 16 digs and Kaili Jordan added 10 digs.
Field hockey
Bowdoin 5, Southern Maine 1
At Brunswick, Marissa O’Neil scored a goal and assisted on three others to lead Bowdoin to the victory.
Taryn King netted a goal and made an assist for the 6-2 Polar Bears. Colleen McDonald, Amanda Burrage and Britney Carr each scored a goal. Gillian McDonald and Kate Leonard combined to make seven saves.
Deedra Boudreau and Darci Holland both scored for the Huskies of Gorham and Sarah Dolley notched an assist. Jessie Superchi made eight saves for 7-4 Southern Maine.
