Big School (Classes A-B)

LEVI MILLER

Belfast High School junior runner Levi Miller won Saturday’s Maine Cross Country Festival of Champions with a course- and meet-record time of 15 minutes, 56.6 seconds. More than 300 runners competed in the race. Miller’s team finished 13th among the 27 schools competing.

Small School (Classes C-D)

JONATHAN SMITH

Smith, a senior fullback for Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield, ran for 235 yards – 203 in the second half – and four touchdowns against Rockland Friday. Smith also caught a 25-yard TD pass in the win over the Tigers.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

KIM STEPHENSON

Stephenson, a junior center midfielder on the Hampden girls soccer team, had an assist on a game-winning goal as the Broncos beat previously undefeated Bangor 1-0. She scored four goals in a 5-0 win over Nokomis and has 13 goals and 15 assists in 10 games.

Small School (Classes C-D)

ERIN BEASLEY

Beasley, a member of the Penquis girls soccer team, scored in overtime to lift the Patriots past Central 2-1 for their ninth victory of the season and second OT win over the Red Devils this season.
