BREWER – Ten Bucks Theatre Company will present “Terra Nova” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17-18 and 24-25, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 and 26, at the Brewer Middle School auditorium, 5 Somerset St.

A discussion with polar expert Dr. Paul Mayewski will take place after the Oct. 19 performance.

The play by Ted Tally, the screenwriter for the film “Silence of the Lambs,” won an Obie Award. In 1911-12, five Englishmen and five Norwegians raced one another to the South Pole. Only the Norwegians returned. “Terra Nova” is the story of what happened to the Englishmen.

Cast members are Ron Adams as Capt. Robert Scott, Robert Libbey as Roald Amunsden, Lily Christian as Kathleen Scott,

George Bragdon as Bowers, Christopher Franklin as Oates, Dominick Varney as Wilson and Allen Adams as Evans.

Julie Arnold Lisnet will direct the play, which is adapted from explorer Robert Scott’s journal.

Admission is $10 and $5 for those under age 12.

Parental guidance is suggested because the play contains depictions of the extreme effects of hypothermia.
