It’s confounding how many times we take the same bait. Every time we’re promised something for nothing the people making the promises get richer and we lose. Do we really want to allow the casino to write the laws that govern it? Because that’s exactly what this referendum allows.
That would not only be reckless and lazy legislating on our part, but it would make losers of us all.
That’s one of the many reasons why our present and former governors and all eight of our state district attorneys are against this casino. They have seen the tantalizing commercials, and they’ve heard all the tempting promises. Yet they say no.
If a casino really were good for Maine they would be for it. Yet they are against it; all of them are. Think again. Don’t take the bait.
