ORONO – Traci Rainone scored two goals to lead the University of Maine field hockey team to a 4-0 victory over Sacred Heart Monday afternoon.
Rachael Hilgar helped with a goal and an assist for the 11-3 Black Bears. Karyn Magno also had a goal, while Emily Dooling, Amie Dubois and Jana Ouellette had assists.
For Maine, Jaye Lance made three saves on eight shots. Robyn Breer saved six of 17 shots for 6-9 Sacred Heart.
Husson 2, U-New England 0
At Bangor, the Braves posted their fifth straight win.
Sara McIntire and Erin Brown scored goals, both were assisted by Karole Anne Emery. Jamie Giles and Shani Hollins each made two saves on two shots for 8-3 Husson.
Krystal Wysokki saved 10 of 17 shots for the 5-6 Nor’easters.
USM 2, Worcester State 1 (OT)
At Gorham, Kayla Vaughan scored her second goal of the game midway through the first overtime to lift the Huskies to triumph over the Lancers.
Ashley Woodcock and Jenn Mason had assists and Jessie Superchi made seven saves on 9 shots for 8-5 Southern Maine.
Christen Watt blistered a 12-yard shot past the Huskies’ keeper on the stick side. The assist went to Angela Notaro. Alisha Bates saved seven of the 14 shots she faced for 6-5 Worcester State.
Men’s soccer
UM-Presque Isle 3, Thomas 0
At Waterville, Sebastian Itman netted two goals in the first half to secure the Owls’ win.
Jay Johnson also scored and added an assist. Brad Holabird helped with an assist for 6-5 UMPI. Matt Watson made one save on five shots.
Ryan Conrad saved nine of the 11 shots he faced for the 3-9-1 Terriers.
