As well as being regressive, referendum Questions 1A and 1B would reduce the taxes paid by out-of-state property owners and necessarily shift them onto Maine residents in the form of increased income and sales taxes. Vote no on Questions 1A and 1B and ask your legislators to strengthen the property tax rebate program so senior citizens are not forced out of their homes by high taxes.
