Bangor woman faces OUI, assault charges

Brewer police arrested a Bangor woman early Tuesday on a charge of drunken driving. She was arrested later the same day in Bangor after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend.

Brewer police Cpl. Levi Sewall reported that at about half past midnight he stopped a car on Wilson Street that was traveling at 69 mph in a 25 mph zone. Sewall said the driver, Kimberlie Blackburn, 34, appeared to be intoxicated.

Blackburn performed poorly on sobriety exercises, Sewall said. He said her license had been suspended. She was arrested and charged with criminal speed, operating under the influence and operating after suspension.

According to Bangor police Officer Eric Tourtelotte, an infant who had been with Blackburn was taken to Blackburn’s residence on Kenduskeag Avenue in Bangor by Brewer police and delivered into his father’s custody.

Other charges may be pending from this incident.

At about 2:30 p.m. numerous Bangor officers went to Blackburn’s apartment, where a family fight was in progress. Tourtelotte said the apartment was in disarray when he arrived.

Tourtelotte said he found the infant lying on the floor near some broken glass, eating food spilled from the opened refrigerator. While Officer Brandon Vafiades tried to interview Blackburn, Tourtelotte spoke with her boyfriend, the infant’s father.

The man told Tourtelotte that Blackburn had come home at about 2 p.m., enraged and yelling at him. He said she blamed him for her OUI arrest and for the state of the apartment. Balckburn threw things, her boyfriend said, and pushed and punched him, forcing him to shut himself in a room to call 911.

Officer Vafiades said Blackburn would not tell him her side of the story.

Blackburn was arrested on a charge of assault, and taken to jail without incident.

Tourtelotte said the infant was uninjured.

Brewer police charged a man with operating a car without a license Tuesday morning.

Officer Rodney Gerald reported that Thomas Duffy, 66, of Brewer was charged after he was in a minor car accident at about 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of North Main and Union streets.

Bangor police arrested an Otis man Monday night after he allegedly was caught stealing from Wal-Mart.

Officer William Lawrence reported that at about 10 p.m. he went to the store and met with a security officer, who said he saw a man later identified as Foster Kane, 38, put a camera into his pocket and leave without paying for it.

Lawrence said Kane told him he was sorry, and that he was “stupid” to take the camera.

Lawrence arrested Kane on warrants for failure to appear in court and failure to pay a fine and summoned him for theft.
