Ribbon-cutting slated at historic building

BANGOR – If Bangor is the Queen City, then the newly restored Morse Mill office building abutting Kenduskeag Stream is one of the jewels in the city’s crown. Mayor Nichi Farnham will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, for Deighan Associates’ new corporate office at 455 Harlow St.

“It took a symphony of effort from people with different skills from all over the community to make this project a success,” said Jean Deighan.

The Morse Mill building, designed by architect Wilfred E. Mansur and built in 1885, is one of only two remaining buildings of the 29 that composed the famous Morse and Co. complex 100 years ago. The building has long been recognized as a national and local treasure. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
